The Clinton High School track teams traveled to Union County last Wednesday and Thursday for the regional meet. The girls placed third in the meet and the boys rounded out fifth.
Team members competing in the AAA State Qualifiers will head to Lower Richland High School on Saturday, May 7. Boys Team Results Blue Ridge 100 Union Co. 99 Greer 72 Chapman 56 Clinton 26 Boys that qualified for the AAA State Qualifier: 4 X 8 Relay team - Demarious Goggins, Austin Nobles, Chris Patterson, BJ Coleman 4 X 1 Relay team - Lavadrick Glenn, Jacob Adams, Matthias Williams, Kenyon Brown 100 meter dash - Kenyon Brown 200 meter dash - Kenyon Brown 3200 - Austin Nobles Pole Vault - BJ Coleman Coach Andrew Webb commented on the team's performance, "We did not have a good two days at our conference meet. We had some people do some good things, but overall it was a disappointing day. Hopefully, with all of the young guys we have competing, we can use this as a learning experience and improve on performance in big meets in the future. We have eight guys that qualified for the state qualifier that we will continue to work with this week and hopefully we can perform well next week." Noelia continued to run well in the sprints and won both of her events. Shakura has came a long way really fast and won the 100 hurdles for us. Latesha continued perform well in the high jump. Anytime you win your event at the conference meet, you have done something special, so we are proud of those young ladies. We had nine girls to qualify for the qualifier and we hope they can perform well next week." |
