Teka Simpson has run track at Clinton High School for the last six years. All that hard work paid off for her on Monday as she signed a scholarship with Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. Teka competed in two events at this year's 3A state track meet in Columbia. She competed in the 200 meters for the second year in a row, finishing in the top eight. She finished second in the high jump due to scratching earlier than the winner. Coach Heath Bryson had this to say about Teka. “We could not be more proud of Teka’s signing with CCU. She has had a phenomenal career as a Red Devil and will continue to do the same as a Chanticleer. I know that she will represent her family and our community well in the future.” Teka plans to major in exercise science and become a physical therapist while at Coastal. Her plans are to high jump and most likely do some sprinting events. |
