On Tuesday, September 6, the Clinton Red Devils came home to run in their third meet of the season. Overall, the boys team came in second and the girls came out strong as well in this rivalry meet against Laurens and Woodruff.

The top five boys for the Devils include: Austin Nobles who placed first overall with a time of 18.58 minutes, Chris Patterson with a time of 20.7 minutes (3rd place), Mark Mulhall who had a time of 21.17 minutes (9th place), Mark Leonard who ran a time of 22.15 minutes (12th place), and last but not least, Josh Simmons came in strong with a time of 22.46 minutes (17th place).

The girls also did very well in their home meet. The top five runners were: Abby Waldron with a time of 27.6 minutes (3rd place), Brindley Harwell with a time of 30.10 minutes (10th place), Mikayla Gregory with a time of 30.38 minutes (13th place), Anjali Naik who ran a time of 31.35 minutes (16th place), and the fifth Devil was Daicy Bravo with a time of 35.25 (21st place).

The first home meet was truly a success for the whole team, but it was definitely a success for top runner, Austin Nobles, who placed first overall for the first time ever.

When asked about the feeling of coming in first overall, Nobles stated, “It felt really great! It made me feel very prideful of my school because I beat the Laurens and Woodruff runners.”

Nobles also stated, “The team’s performance at the meet was a great one. A lot of runners had their personal best times on our course.”

When talking to his mother, Jeri-Lynn Nobles, about this season compared to last she was extremely optimistic. “This is looking like an impressive season because we have more students involved and a lot of newbies. It makes it so much more exciting!”

The next meet will be held Tuesday, September 13, at Union so come out and show your support!
